The First Dance is usually the most important dance at any wedding disco it always involves the bride and groom and sometimes others will participate in a carefully choreographed routine. Often the bride and groom would have spent several hours preparing a routine especially for this first dance. It's an important tradition and normally a great opportunity for the guests to take some lovely photographs. So you should choose the music for your first dance carefully, if you're not much of a dancer you may want to choose a slow song, as anyone can do a slow dance, but if your a bit more flamboyant then you may want to go for something a little different and give your guests a bit of a treat.
Some couples can get very nervous about doing the first dance and some may opt not to do one at all because of the fears or pressure. So if you are a little nervous or worried about this, you may want to consider asking the DJ to call the guests up to join you on the dance floor after a short period of time. This can take a lot of pressure off of you and you still get to do the first dance. If you do this it's a good idea to let the photographer know this is going to happen as he/she will have less time to get a few good shots. It will also help if you prime a few close family members and friends to come and join you part way through when the DJ asks because if they are left unprimed there is a good chance they wont come on to the dancefloor when prompter and the last thing you would want is for the DJ to ask the guests to join you and nobody does, because this will make you even more nervous.
Top Tip: Always cut the cake before the first dance, never ever do the first dance then cut the cake. Why becuase the first dance opens the party, you may want guests to join you during the first dance, or you will certainly want them to join you for the next song. But going on to then cut the cake will stop the start of the party dead in it's tracks.

There are several other dances besides the first dance and some couples like to choose a 2nd or even a 3rd track to be played after the first dance.
Often the father will want to dance with his daughter on this special occasion, this is known and the father and daughter dance, another dance that is not as popular but some couples go for is the mother and son dance.
The next big one of course is the last dance of the night. You may want to leave this up to the DJ or have a couple of choices ready at least, if you have a lot of guests at the end you may want to finish on a track so that you go out with a bang, if you only have a small number of guests left you may want to end with something a bit quieter and more intimate. Because it's never really possible to predict how many guests will be left at the end of the evening it's good to have a couple of choices, this way you can go with the one that would best suit the moment.
Another good choice is to simply do the first dance again at the end of the night as the last song, this often works really, really well, for 2 reasons. One, because it's usually a song that has a personal meaning and two, there is no presure of everyone watching. At the end everyone is much more relaxed, the atomosphere is so much more relaxed, guests may circle the bride and groom or may even go off and do there own dances as couples so it's definitely one to consider.
